A gentle giant.

You arrived looking so awsome
Such a picture of canine beauty
We all loved you so
You were like a big teddy.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Then came that very first day
You were taken out for your walk.
You growled at them all
And made everyone talk.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
To our home you allowed them in
But not so easy to get out!
You got so very protective
When you heard someone shout!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
They said you were nasty
Not like the one before
We said they were wrong
As we crossly shut the door.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You would run up the garden
To spy at that washing line
You would try to bring it in
Every single bloomin time.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You hated little old ladies
With a bag on their arms.
When you ran down to Safeway
You could have done so much Harm.
Thankfully the door stayed shut
That awful automatic one
We caught you just in time
Oh how fast you could run
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
But we knew you better
We knew the dog from within
A soft, gentle giant
And that wasn’t a sin!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I’d often look for Erin
Each time you’d both be found
Snuggled and huddled together
Baby and you, asleep so sound.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
!!
No you weren’t a monster
You were a splendid King!!
Because we knew the true
Gentle giant from within.
