Even long after a romantic relationship has ended we still sometimes stop and wonder about how different things could have been had the issues that caused the break up disappeared in time to leave the relationship intact.
If I had had a “real” job
If I’d been able to accept your “friendship” with the self-proclaimed dyke
If your “habits” had been tamed
Would we still be in love?
Doubtless things still would’ve fizzled
Though perhaps not as fast
Maybe a month or two you’d remained sober
Strayed from weed and the liquid in her glass
Still it fills some time to wonder how different things could’ve been
Had you put me above all others
Had I had steady money coming in
