A poem with a moral.

The Bible says that children are an inheritance from God

A gift that we should hold in high esteem

Sadly,

we often do not value our children

at least not as much as we should

We tell others to treasure their own

while time is favorable for doing so

Because before you know it

they will be adults

I didn’t value my children as much as I should have

I couldn’t see the days fleeting

Nor could I appreciate that in the twinkling of an eye

They would be leading their own lives

With its own issues, struggles and dilemmas

I should have hugged them more while they saw me as a hero

I wish I had done more with them while the candid moments

were still around for me to capture

Sadly,

Those opportunities for the most part have departed

I took for granted that they would feel that way forever

Until one day they didn’t

The same little ones that you tossed in the air

just to see them smile and laugh

Or ran their silken hair through your fingers till they drifted

off to sleep innocently

There is nothing to compare

Treasure your children while you can

and when the time is due,

Because of you, they will treasures their own too

This I must say is a sweet poem! Children are priceless treasures-I cannot comprehend a situation where some parents throw away their children-Do they care who they are throwing and what they could have been if they were given a chance to live? Thanks a lot for this poem on children-I love my children, they are everything to me!

I am moved with this poem. Time really flies. It is good to show our children that we love them because sooner they will become adult and we can no longer show them the love and care that parents should give to their children.

Wise words and nicely written Jerry – they grow up and leave us far too quickly and we should cherish the times we have with them as much as we can.

Kids do learn by our example then some often exceed the example set. Nicely written and expressed. Thank you.

This made me cry. I have panic attacks some days when I think of time gone by. I want to put on the brakes of time but know it is impossible. I can’t remember my boys as little babies because I was ill for most of the time and missed it… no going back now. I hope I have made it up to them since, at least for some part. They are fine teenagers for that I can be proud at least.

I am glad it moved you, but I dont want you to be sad Lisa L.

I am sure your boys know they are loved dearly. But jussst in case, why not tell them today?
