Just a fun piece about a teacher’s lot.

                     *

Our teacher says she’s leaving.

She claims she’s had enough,

And that teaching all us naughty kids

She found was far too tough.

She’s hated the surprises

Which adorned her chair each day,

And the state of our maths homework

Always filled her with dismay.

She thought we didn’t like her

And we wanted her to go,

But we really loved our teacher

And we never let her know.

                   *

Now it seems that it’s too late

To tell her how we really feel,

That we enjoyed all our lessons

And remembered them with zeal.

The competitions entered

And the times we went on trips,

All the information fed us

Which fell easily from her lips.

So please, Miss, reconsider

And we promise we’ll be good.

And the mischief we got up to,

Well, you just misunderstood.

    So sweet.

  • Starpisces on Oct 13, 2010

so cute poem. I guess you were a very nice teacher. Tell you a secret, when I was young, I really hated teachers so much, and when people praised teachers, I will say that they were supposed to be nice, so need not praise them. I also said that if I were teacher, I will make the students remember me for life.

Very well penned. Teachers are parents at school…

Sometimes one has happiness so close that one doen’t even realize. I think it’s what happened to the kids. Teaching is not an easy task and kids forget thinking about their future. Kids never stay kids, hopefully…Another great piece Christine.

Great! Fantastic! I love your poems as they have such a nice rhythm and rhyme. I’m currently trying my hand at poetry. I used to write a lot of poetry, but got out of the habit. Now I want to get back into it.

Lovely. It is unfortunate that I haven’t had that many teachers I respected but the ones that I did, I was sorry to be leaving their classes (graduation) or them moving on.

Touching piece Christine. Sometimes kids just don’t know how to say thanks, we appreciate what you do. It’s not until the next teacher they realise they were actually onto a good thing.

I really loved your poem. I really do think that teachers do not get the credit that they deserve. I do see how hard it is for teachers to try and reach out to students. When I was in school I did not care for my teachers, but I do have a better appreciation for them now.

Like all other good things, good teachers are not always appreciated. Great poem!

Delightful. It makes me think of when our headmistress left. We thought she was a dragon, but the day we said goodbye, I remember saying to her: ”you never realise what you have, until you lose it’. Your poems depict life so beautifully Christine.

Maybe the teacher needs to stick around and bring out the strap or the cane and fine tune these Triond idios about proper grammar and punctuation…

“I teach, I touch the future.” This I learned from one great teacher whom I shall never forget. It has also become my motto as a teacher of young children. I love my kids and despite their stubbornness, I know they love me back. Heartwarming piece.

  • fishfry aka Elizabeth Figueroa on Oct 15, 2010

That was totally awesome. Made me laugh as I was a student who enjoyed placeing tacks and paint on my teachers seat. WHen I think back, I did it because I thought she was so funny when she was mad.
    Bad Me.
    Great poem
