A poem about trying to hold on to someone.
My heart said it loves you,
Like the moon marries high tide.
Over and over again.
As I go to bed night after night,
And wonder why you’re not here,
I want to pull you,
Like the waves on the beach,
And lay you down as you pull back,
But you’re falling from me,
Like sand through my fingers,
How can I hold on to that,
I’ll go closer to the shore,
Searching for your heart,
For the waters of love,
Will bring every grain of sand together.
You left when the tide rose,
And washed away,
The blanket on the beach,
That we cuddled on and watched the waves,
I wanted to sweep you away,
Just like the waves,
But I got caught in a whirlpool trying,
I dived into you,
And tried to find the treasure chest,
That is your heart,
I got lost but came to far to turn back,
I’m running out of air,
I need your kiss,
Like fresh air above the sea
