Be yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks about it.
“Out There”
It may appear as if I am here,
When actually, I am usually way “out there”.
People do not consider me to be
What most would call “normal”.
I am not a prissy girl, not quite prim and proper,
Definitely not what you would call “formal”.
Whether you like it or not, this is me.
What you see is what you get,
And if you think you can make me change,
I will take that damn bet!
Spent too many years before
Forced to play the fake, the phony;
Absolutely nothing in this world
Could make me do that any more,
Not even the biggest shit-ton of money!
Nothing is worth more to me than my freedom,
Freedom to act however I see fit,
To do and say as I please, and not give a shit.
That was my biggest release after the divorce,
To just be myself and feel no remorse.
So love me for who I am,
Do not expect me to pull any scams,
If you have any problems with that,
I will quickly tell you to “Scram!”
It is very important to me
To have an honest sense of my self.
I won’t allow the real me to be stored on a shelf,
To mold, rot, and wither away.
I will keep my abnormal mind, to much dismay.
I may not be very quick to the punch,
My appearance is far from perfect,
And I will probably get stains on my shirt
When we go out for lunch.
But if all of these flaws you can ignore,
Then maybe our love really will last forevermore!
