All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We in our own strength are outside the walls of Heaven. We have earned our place in Hell. But by His grace God sent Jesus Christ, His own Son, who died outside the wall, That we might have salvation and a place in Heaven.
Outside the wall lies a valley,
Gehenna by name.
There the refuse of man is strewn-
Garbage, broken pieces, defiled.
A place of rejection.
A place of burning.
This earthly site is but a shadow
Of the eternal doom waits
The wicked and sinners,
Who God’s heavenly plan forsake.
Outside the wall stands a mountain,
Calvary by name.
There the refused of man are slain-
Criminals, traitors and thieves.
A place of suffering.
A place of death.
Outside the wall stands a man,
A sinner by choice.
Worthless, broken, and defiled.
Condemned to Gehenna
Eternally punished for sin.
Outside the wall hung a Savior,
Jesus by name.
Refused and rejected of man.
Yet sinless and undefiled
For the sins of man did he die
Outside the door stands the Savior
Let Him in and reject Him no more.
For those who will bid
For eternity will live
With the Savior, who says to all men
“Sins. Forgiven, Debt Paid, Redeemed!”
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace
as upon Him; And with His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53:5
