A fable about the fallen dream of America. Will we remember?

OVER THERE!
Look, look – over there!
That’s where they used to care!
A land of freedom offered fair,
Liberty given to all to share;
There came a day not long ago,
The tides changed their ebb and flow,
Blowing winds shifted – stopped – flailed,
When apathy grew and freedom failed;
A land of honey/milk so giving,
With beauty and freedom for all the living,
Nasty, putrid socialism caused liberty’s dimming,
Grew thorns and briers and cesspools brimming;
Dark sores and flies lived where life had been,
Lights of liberty no longer seen,
Morass of madness fought the clean,
Made evil good and liberty lean;
See, see, the land ahead!
It cares not – and looks as dead,
With liberty gone – freedom falls,
Liberty dead - no longer calls.
