Roots are usually the sure foundation of an excellent tree, as the saying said, "The tree is known by its first fruit."

From the seas of Loway,
To the valley of Mamanga,
The lineage of Oyong Benot
Is traced back from its origin,
The travail and their hardships
Of grief and their colorful story,
As they migrated on board a ship,
And ferried all that they got.

They stayed and tilled the lands,
That our government did gave,
Free during those times,
Because it was no man’s land.
They worked fast and hard,
And planted root crops and rice,
Even suffered serious diseases,
Malaria, cholera and other ailments.

Oyong Benot married Oyang Tinang,
And got Aurelia, Irene, Segundina,
Plus Josefa, Eustiquio, Rufa, Francisco,
Cornelio, and together they grew,
Into Silvino-Florentina, Maquiling-Pulanggas clan,
From two to six hundred now,
May up to five times in the years thereafter,
And many, many more decades to go.

Oyong Benot and Oyang Tinang we thank you,
For you are the parents who loved us so much,
All we’ve got to do is to reminisce and improve our lives,
To live up to your dreams, and hopes of tomorrow,
Yes, we join and support all your endeavors
As we set our hearts and minds to carry on,
And move forward with the banners flying high,
Of hard-work, courage, integrity, excellence and all your best.
