Pain and Pleasure

Getting off the emotional roller coaster of love, for a while anyway. Life lesson: nothing brings as much pleasure or as much pain as love does.

Coming at me with sharp needles

To prick my skin again

Trying to evoke a response

Hoping it is the one you want

I am not as delicate and fragile

As I once was

You are going to have to dig deeper

To get at my heart

Both pain and pleasure

Have a higher threshold

You have brought me both

Highest highs and lowest lows

But no more

The emotional roller coaster

Comes to its final stop

The dizzying ride is over

No one should have to endure

So much pain and pleasure
