Intent as they can be amongst the trees,
You can’t imagine a better place to be.
As you settle in to enjoy the surroundings,
You never imagined with animals you’d be bonding.
Through the brush comes up a fox,
Seems pretty friendly as he sniffs at your socks.
As you sit there and wonder what he will do?
You see a buck in the woods, bounding through.
A waterfall in the distance forms a cloud of mist.
A dolphin makes an appearance with a jump and a twist.
You loose track of time with the utopia about,
Three years pass and it’s perfect, no doubt.
You’ve dreamed of this all your life.
The only thing better would be a wife.
As you envision the perfect woman you’ve longed for her to be,
There she walks out from behind a tree.
‘We need to talk,’ she says with the most beautiful smile.
We have all the time in the world, let’s wait a while.
As things seem perfect in your own eyes,
The world around you slowly dies.
You don’t even notice the fox in the thicket.
The sly animal is cunning and wicked.
Enveloped in the siren’s aura of tranquility,
You cut all ties with sensibility.
You can’t express in words the feelings in your heart,
Now things will take place to tear that apart.
A rage of emotions storming inside,
A turn of events that sunder all pride.
It starts to happen all around you,
In an instant the birds took flight and flew.
Through the trees and into the night,
With an urgency you know is definitely fright.
The fox came running and pounced on your chest,
The heart is all, not concerned with the rest.
The bear you fished with took a swipe with a paw.
The siren laughing is the last thing you saw.
It’s your heart they were seeking. They weren’t after you.
