A poetic version of an old lady in a hospital.
Hospital walls, and floors so clean
The consistent beep of the heart-rate machine
A sharp pain makes me weep
I fall into a deep sleep
A crisp wind, an autumn breeze
A million colors on a million leaves
Red, orange, yellow, and a touch of green
A swirl of fire on the trees
A narrow pathway goes on down
I walk along the hard dirt ground
A fantasy world, I have found
All I hear is nature’s sounds
Birds are singing a melody so fair
Where I’m going, I do not care
I cannot see it, but I know it’s there
When I reach it, I can only stare
Mountains I hadn’t seen before
Falls of water spill from their core
My heart is filled, but there is more
A dainty little cottage with a wooden door
I open the door with a creak
I look inside; I take a peek
With a sigh of contentment, I realize
I’m finally in paradise
