Kudos to the filmmakers for believably milking the original premise in this sequel without replicating it, but the build up of tension achieved so well the first time is absent here, and despite some good scares in the last third, the film is very dull.
One of the best things about this follow up to the hit horror film “Paranormal Activity” is that the filmmakers have wisely chosen to use the identical found film format, but have cleverly utilized the idea of safety camera footage distributed with home video footage to tell the tale By doing this, they have numerous more angles to play with rather than the unique static one from the first film, which permits for more variety in shots and scares. as well as the filmmakers play with night-vision choices to create some great scares in the last 3rd of the film. Story-wise, the motion picture wraps encircling the first film in that the majority of it seizes place before the first film, with the culminate taking place after the events of the first film, and provides a richer explanation as to why this devil is terrorising sisters Katie and Kristi. In doing this, the filmmakers have provided a valid reason for this follow up to exist outside of generating more revenues for the film’s distributor. The film is a brave attempt to replicate the experience of the first film, and in parts, it does bring something new to the table and supplies the requisite scares at different points.
Bad belongings about the movie
Until the scares truly kick in astir two thirds of the way through, the film is truly dull. What made the first film work was that it used mental thrills to slowly build up tension. Each new occurrence was worse than the one previously and they used the characters to complete this. The scene in the first film where Katie bases up in the middle of the room for hours throughout the night, for example, is psychologically bizarre There are no scenes like this in the alternate film. All we get are grunting noises and a number of objects moving around, which is unluckily boring when you consider that the sketch of the footage using security cameras could have Lenten tide itself to more variety in the frights The characters are not doing anything themselves to cause the terror, only responding to what they see (which is not much). It is not pending we are deep into the film that we get the very terrifying scenes, but by then, it’s too brief too late.
