Having reached those "golden years" that aren’t necessarily golden I’ve given much thought to the passage of time, the past, the present and the future and how I see "old." Read more…
PASSAGE OF TIME
It’s said I’ve reached my golden years,
among the elders now they say;
I’m growing lame, no longer work
and my hair has now turned gray.
I live life at a slower pace,
not so much on the run,
but I’m up with the chickens
and still up past the setting sun.
Each day is filled to overflowing
with things I want to get done;
the common chores we all must do
and I still have bills to pay
and a life to live, times to enjoy
even though my hair is gray…
And the clock on the wall keeps ticking
as I’m blessed with a new day
to live the best that I am able and know how
though the sands of time fall fast
as life’s seconds keep on ticking by;
Oh how quickly moments pass…
moments of time and precious memories,
hope for all those things I’ve left to do,
past dreams I hope I can fulfill
before this life is through…
And I look forward to each new day
and the future yet to come
when this life’s clock stops ticking
and I pass into God’s Kingdom…
But for now, the sands of time keep falling
though I don’t know what tomorrow holds,
I’m finding that my elder years
are more silver than are gold,
and I’m living life at a slower pace
though I still have a half full glass,
not half empty, life goes on
though my years are passing fast.
