Have you ever taken notice -
As you walk your earthen ways -
Of the pleasures, God has scattered
On our paths of night and day:
Pretty flowers in abundance;
Trees of majesty and might;
Golden strands of playful moonbeams
Chasing shadow, through the night?

And the smiles of joy and rapture -
That He graced on every road -
Have you ever taken notice
How they lighten weary roads:
Fragrant fields of blooming clover;
Laughing brooks and bubbling springs;
Barren pastures, dressed in ermine;
Painted song birds, on the wing?

These are gifts that He has scattered
On the pathways of our time
To be treasured – like His Blessings -
And a joy to humankind,
But we must take note – to see them –
As we walk our different ways
Or, forever, be the travelers
Seeing, only, dirt and clay.
