A poem/song about the destruction of nature for the purpose of development.

Please don’t tear me down,
And take away the peace I’ve found
I’m sorry if I cause a problem

Let the bluebirds come my way,
And I’ll be here another day
Silent sirens fire me

Let me grow,
Let me go,

Just let me live,
And have peace of mind
My own desires
My own design
And when I fall, I know I’ll die
With peace of mind
Peace of Mind

A sanctuary seldom hurt
The rains have washed away my dirt
Again I beg you leave me be

Foxes gather at my roots,
Hummingbirds drink from my fruits,
Only if I’m granted life,

Let me go,
Let me grow

Just let me live,
And have peace of mind
My own desires
My own design
And when I fall, I know I’ll die
With peace of mind
Peace of Mind

A little time,
Before I die,
And all I ask,
Is peace of mind
