As a general rule the only way I like peaches is in a pie my beloved mother makes sometimes. But the peaches will serve me well as a metaphor that I have had a long running history with and perfected.

If you don’t want my fresh peaches,

please don’t shake my peach tree.

It took me awhile to get them to grow,

they wont be given away for free.

****

If my  peaches aren’t good enough,

they don’t need to be in any of your pies.

You can add the sugar, crust and all,

but its my peaches that make the pie.

****

Peach jams and jelly’s tastes super good,

especially if its on wheat toast or a pancake.

But if my peach preserves isn’t what you need,

the maple syrup is sitting in the cupboard.

****

Dried fruit is very good no matter what,

but dried peaches are the very best there.

Be sure you dry my peaches correctly,

there is no turning back if they are wasted.

*****

You can even eat them as they were grown,

fresh ,juicy and yummy to your tummy.

But if you don’t like how my peaches taste,

maybe you need to eat strawberries instead.

*****

If you don’t like my fresh grown peaches,

then please don’t shake them from the tree.

Someone will come along that likes them,

someone tall enough to pick the fruit for me.

*****

Then together we will make our peach pie,

eat lots of peach jelly on toast or a pancake.

Buy a machine and dry our own peaches also,

dice them fine and eat them on top of ice cream.

****

But its fine if you don’t like my peaches anymore,

it turns out that strawberries was your favorite.

So you need to find someone who grows them,

then the two of you can makes pies, jellies and jams.
