Pearls of wisdom, beads of knowledge

Scattered in the guise of pebbles to the ignorant

On the winding trail of life through the sands of Time

Every day is an oyster of Time

With a pearl of experience in its womb

Only harvested by those that yearn for knowledge

Tales from the lips of grandmothers

With the wealth of observations harbouring experience

Lessons learnt with falls and scraped knees

And woven into the fabric of folklore to teach the young

The lessons ingrained in the words of elders

Instructions based on knowledge of wisdom amassed and shared

Skills taught are ornaments of wisdom pearls

Endowed to enhance wisdom, knowledge, learning

Words scribbled by teachers on the bosoms of blackboards

And the words strewn on the leaves of scores of books

All are treasures of pearls of wisdom endowed with benevolence

It is for one to string them into necklaces to adorn

Or to stud them on coronets to crown the mind

Or to lose them into the abyss of forgetfulness

Lost in chasing the fluorescent mirages of temptations

This wealth if amassed can never be stolen

But only increase on sharing…
