A reworking of the “Car Vs. Pedestrian 2″ poem that I wrote a few days ago, which was super rough. This one is better. More enjoyable. Enjoy.
the shy sun laps against My naked arm
waking Me loudly from the sound of surf
I leave the beach with such a want of which
will never hear, nor fear, a sandy “no”
-
fingers trapped in a locked up tight car door
why not set off that useful alarm now
try to stay still while rogue keys splash amongst
rough rocks and sirens wail to pull them free
-
associations, We have plenty on
our plates, but much more room in empty heads
for rent, We expect it be paid right on time
rhyme, to sooth hot searing pain with light warmth*
-
broken (PAIN) they have to be (PAIN) broken
sticks and stones and skin and bones, even laws
but those don’t matter, Physics won this one
there is very much blood, warm and sticky
-
still trickling across My bare forearm
the light sunlight is still icily clear
My wet sleeve, still soaked in slight summer sky
marvelous, yet nerveless, on My fingers

*this is not the definition of rhyme
