Beware! There might be one in your neighborhood.

Out of the cold winter blue
A tomcat is staring at you
Out from the window sill
Giving you a strange chill

His face so inquisitive
His objective definitive
With big eyes that plead
Wanting you to take heed

Saying hi with those jeweled eyes
And murmuring plaintive cries
As he sticks out his chin
Wanting to be let in

Making a funny face
A grimace you can’t erase
From the vision he sees
As if he were about to sneeze

It doesn’t matter what you’re doing
He’s always there for a viewing
Watching you through the window
As the curtains would billow

To your window he was drawn
Wondering what’s going on
Wanting to be a part of
That world you so love

Beseeching you so earnestly
With an expression full of urgency
Asking for compassion
As your face turns ashen

Seeing the ghosts of past lives
As emotions pierce you like knives
Causing you to shiver
With your heart all a quiver

Imploring to your humanity
Catering to your human vanity
Wanting your indifference to crumble
And become more humble

Day in or day out
He is always about
Watching you from out there
With an unwavering stare

Peering between the flaps
Keeping you from a relapse
Making you aware
That he is always out there

Keeping you on your toes
Never forgetting your woes

So please don’t despise
For a peeping tomcat spies
