A eulogy for a loved one.
I’ve seen many perish Those I loved, those I cherish, I’ve lost friends, those I’d die for Family, those I lived for. I’ve watched vultures jubiliate for demise’ call, When widows meditate on their lover’s fall. Tears I’ve fought that should’ve drowned my eyes And emptied buckets of my many goodbyes, I’ve attended funerals from street to street And read more eulogies than should befit. I’ve been wounded, hurt, cracked, never broken Yet for thee,my heart, only a token, To hold your memories- my soul a pact of love This day a black moment, here and above. Science is numb, the air is still As beasts and birds, crops and hill, The trees have faded, the snow melted The crowd is silent, the song long ended. The moon is waiting, the golden sun watching Perhaps this eulogy seems too touching. Perhaps they see spectre, perchance they see ghost Perhaps they see somebody making a toast, Perhaps the gods are angry, perhaps one is born Perhaps they sight a hero trecking in return, Perhaps I’m mistaken, perhaps I am drunk Perhaps I see chewing stick as mighty tree trunk, Perhaps a battle’s ended, perhaps a vanquished war Perhaps they’ve only realised that you are no more…..
