This is a Mythological Description of the Character Persephone!

Persephone is one of the beautiful Greek Goddesses. She was not a Titan. Her childhood name was Kore, meaning young maiden. Her mother was Demeter and her father was Zeus. Persephone’s father is Zeus because Zeus and her mother Demeter were married long before Zeus married Hera. Her best childhood friends were Athena and Aphrodite. She had a great, merry and cheerful life, until bad things started to occur between her and Hades, the God of the Underworld.

Persephone was a very beautiful young woman. She was the goddess of spring and growth. Anywhere she would go, flowers would bloom all around her. The symbols that state what she stands for are the narcissus, the white rose, grain, spring flowers, and the pomegranate. All the flowers are spring flowers, and she is the goddess of spring time; that is why that is her main symbol. The grain represents her mother, the goddess of the harvest.

As I mentioned earlier, Persephone was very beautiful, even Hades, the god of the Underworld, wanted her as his queen. So, he got her, eventually. One day, while she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. Nobody noticed this happen except Zeus and Helios, the God of the sun. Demeter, her mother, went looking for her everywhere for her daughter Persephone, until Helios told her what he saw. Demeter got depressed and stopped gathering the harvest. Zeus said that this cannot go on much longer, and sent Hermes to Hades to release Persephone. Hades agreed to let Persephone go, since it was an order from Zeus, but before she left, he made her eat a pomegranate. She thought that it was just a normal fruit, but she found out that there was a curse in it after she ate it. Since she ate six of the seeds of the pomegranate, she had to return to the Underworld for six months (each month counting a seed) each year. This was the curse. After six months, Persephone would return to her mother Demeter and start spring. Everything turned nice and warm, the harvest grew, and there was nothing to worry about. But then, after six months, Persephone had to return to the Underworld, back to Hades. When she left for her six month promise, everything turned cold and nothing grew. To this day, we have six months of warm time, and six months of cold time. Persephone is still working all around us!
