This is a slam poem written in free verse that describes the history of the universe leading to the creation of humanity.

Boom! An explosion of catastrophe

The expulsion of photon beams

An infinitesimal nugget

Called the universe

Big Bang Nucleosynthesis

Stellar Evolution

Bubble Nucleation

The cosmos expands

Particles created in the vacuum

Spaces exists in the fragment of a second

Everything in an eyeblink

Before, nothing,

A Planck second later, everything

Dark matter envelopes in a halo

Collapses to a core

The Milky Way forms

Andromeda bursts

A microcosm of galaxies

Big and small

Born to the silver screen

Millions and millions of years after, nothing.

Fragmentation of galaxies

Into clusters

Into stars

Into solar systems

From the dusts of stars,

Come planets

Planets like the earth

Our earth

The earth with all its mountains,

Valleys, ridges, waters, forests,

Animals and humans

Homo sapiens.

Forged from the fires of the singularity

The carbon in our bones

The calcium in our teeth

The hydrogen and oxygen in our waters

All from the cosmos

We are but raw materials

From a distant past

The offspring of a greater deity

The small fish in a big pond

It is this fact that makes us

Who we are

From losing a family member to cancer, the suicide of a friend,

The marriage to your sweetheart, your first child,

To the time when your parents cease to exist

An endless cycle of life and death

Are  nothing but physical catalysts

To the ongoing evolution

Constantly changing the fabric

Through the warps and curves it presents

It goes up, it goes down

Forming craters and mountains

Going smooth

And going rough

Feeling euphoric

And disheartened

That’s human

The life of the cosmos
