A poem about putting the pieces of a memory together. Sweet love, revisited.

My words pour out of my heart as though finally free.
Suffocated ideas and promises break the chains,
As the story reveals itself to me.

Your words follow, then lead, my forgotten tale,
As stolen moments swirl to connect,
And memories try not to fail.

Flashes enlighten my mind’s arcade,
As darkened silhouettes come to life,
To photograph those steps that fade…

Erased by years, I see your face,
Puzzled to find me there,
A beginning in that place.

Uncertainty danced atop these souls,
Like weighted innocence upon our toes,
Moving toward my shattered goals.

Our natures dared us to play a while,
Wandering predictors of things to come,
But I eased your worry with a smile.

Detailed talks and playful days,
Found us stalling in our tracks,
Yet walking through the haze.

We rolled through the desert to chase the sky,
Drove in circles to trace the moon,
And kissed until we said goodbye……

This poem assembles the pieces of memory just like the pieces of a mosaic…
