Those that are genuinely homeless deserve to be pitied, and there are those that panhandle as a profession. It is impossible to separate the two.

Oh, pity means a lot to us!

Yet, think it might be such

That those that tend to steal our heart,

Might have the magic touch,

For there are undeserving folks,

Familiar with the tact

Of feigning utter misery

To which we might react

As warmly as they might expect;

But could we really have the sense

Of singling out the true and false

And tell the difference?
