A poem about humanity and closing our eyes to its problems when it is necessary to open them.
Envy renders its ugly head
In all of our hearts
A shockwave of emotion
That can rip lives apart
Submitting you like a bird in cage
Willing to be set free
Endlessly searching
For how this came to be

Ignorance spoke of
Guile in so many mouths
Hyprocrisy does not respect
What life is all about
The truth has no meaning
When you have come upon this trap
Walking with your head down
Until you hear the fatal snap
With all of the violence round about
The word love I begin to doubt
Mortals die from foolish acts
Who said an eye for an eye is a fact

Have we closed our minds to the past
The bonds of hurt always last
It is easier to forgive
Then it is to forget
Even the faded memories
Cannot be tossed in a pit
It is better to serve in heaven
It is by far more worthy then ruling in hell
But how do we get around this barricade
We are all coming to know so well
Realizing what has been done wrong is a start
But in order to change things
We must all play a part

I am but one person
Just trying to speak
Left wondering where the happiness is
In which we all seek.
