A poem about distracting my other half while he’s working.
Sensing my stare, he glances back
I quickly look away
I know he’s in the mood to work
But I’m in the mood to play
“Sweetheart, I need..”
And a beat he does not miss
He follows my voice through the house
And all I needed was a kiss
Now he’s working twice as hard
To make up for his little excursion
He’s trying so hard to stay focused
And I keep creating a diversion
“Sweetheart! It’s stuck!” I cry
“Way up on the top shelf!”
With a smile in his eyes, he jokingly chides
“My Dear, you threw that up there yourself!”
By now he’s typing really fast
Making up for lost time
And I’m devising my final scheme
To make all that focus mine
“I love you” our eyes lock
To the bedroom I stroll with a slow gait
And without any hesitation he follows
The rest of the world can wait
