This poem is about Tithonus the lover of Greek godess of Dawn, Eos and his eternal torture…
Tithonus spawned of the seed of Laomedon
And the womb of the water nymph Strymo
As a warrior of Troy, young and virile
Was abducted by a lovelorn Eos, Titan of Dawn
Bearing two sons Memnon and Emathion
The saga of adoration was replete with bliss
When the deity yearned for her lovers immortality
Granted this boon of Zeus, she rejoiced in rapture
But to her folly she did not ask eternal youth
To keep Tithonus young and virile
As Time passed he lived but lost strength
The boon was now a curse to be endured
His love was lost only pain of living remained
As he yearned for death and relief
Eos closed him him behind shining doors to lament
He pined away into a grasshopper
And eternally mourns its life
And prays for the ambrosia of death…
