‘Bonne Nuit Madame’
(Goodnight My Lady)
Matthew Henshaw Esq.
She drinks black coffee in the morning and that’s what stains her teeth.
‘Bonne Nuit Madame’
(Goodnight My Lady)
Matthew Henshaw Esq.
She drinks black coffee in the morning and that’s what stains her teeth
She will put on a night dress, she’s not lost but oh how she roams the streets
She’ll tread the boulevard floor then go back and tread some more
Although she’s seen it all before and no doubt she will see it all again
She stops and fumbles for change then lights one more cigarette
Holds her hands up to the rain just to stop herself from getting wet
Though that’s the way she usually likes to be she knows tonight it’s not likely
Because she’s seen it all before and no doubt she will see it all again
Three little birdies in a cage forever longing to be free
For this was not the way that life was meant to be
Goodnight My Lady, goodnight farewell
Goodnight My Lady
Some things are better left unsaid…
