A legendary poem collection created and edited by Thomas Vladenhawk.

The Hell of War

running across the field, debris raining down.
adrenaline pumping, shells exploding
tat tat tat of gunfire, screams of the wounded
thump of a grenade, less screams after
a sharp pain in the back, a call for a medic
sagging to the ground, ringing in the ears
medic running to tend to the wounds, he falls to the ground
never gets back on his feet, darkness clouds the soldier’s vision
closed eyes with heart slowing, he wonders
why the world
came up with this

The Future

I awake from bed, and step off to the world to come

Everything seems perfect, like an everyday family custom

The floor is as smooth as polished stone, glinting in the light

The walls are colored obsidian and pearl, like the starry sky in the night

I step outside and breathe the fresh air, like a whale coming up to inhale

The emerald grass sways with the wind, as graceful as a neatly woven percale

In the distance lies a modern metropolis, a bustling boomtown

Everyone wanted to get their work done before sundown

This place may exist, if everyone cooperates

If you do your part, this place awaits

The Might of the Waterfall

A cascade of blue
The awing rush of water
The breeze of moisture

The aqua wonder
The strength of nature’s vigor
A prodigious sight

The deafening roar
A rainbow from the beauty
The force of the fall

Doom and Hope

Doom is the essence of ash
Reeks of the remains of a firestorm
Tastes like the bitter tang of poison
Screeches like a vulture spotting its dying prey
Feels like the chills of The Reaper itself

Hope is the meaning of light
Smells like the aroma of Thanksgiving
Tastes like the water at an oasis
Sings like the chorus at the local church
Feels like the lingering warmth of the Olympian Torch
