While undertaking the colossal task of cleaning out the disk drive…I came across this little ditty which I totally forgot all about. I penned this during the days in college, while struggling to get the dissertation done and submitted. I still fondly remember sipping a bigass venti starbucks at the campus eatery and pondering over content. No idea how it digressed into a Poem of sorts…but it’s funny how the brain works and it eventually cured my momentary brainfart.
And yes…I graduated from college eventually.

“A sip of starbucks” by Mark Seow
Au tout
A sip of Starbucks
A dip of Muffin
Ten years of lattes till a tummy tuck
Body fat don’t burn like paraffin
Damn hungry birds at Manoa
Wish there was a Boa
You’re not getting any of my crumbs
Sitting here writing hurts me thumbs
There’s a girl opposite
Who only wears a little bit
Is it the heat?
They say “Thank God it’s Friday!”
But I get no pay, to sit here and write today…
Much rather be surfin’
Instead I sit here puffin’
The barber in his funky pants
So amusing it makes me rant
Trust him to cut me hair
Instead he makes it bare
This essay has a deadline!
Fool!
Focus to make it bind!
School!
I no like da kine!
Part Deux
A drag of cigarette
A bag of chips
Who knows when me lungs will disintegrate
Oh what the heck, where’s the dip…
Doing laundry is such a chore
Paying 75 cents just to bore…
Simply rotten to the core!
There’s a man nearby
Whose pants are losing its dye
My eyes don’t mean to pry
But looks like he’s ready to cry
They say “ Smell and look fresh everyday!”
Still I get no pay, doing me laundry and reviewing this essay…
Much rather be sleepin’
Instead I wait here cringin’
My favorite underwear
Damn! It has a tear!
No wonder so much air up there…
This essay needs improvement!
Hurry!
But the brain shows no movement!
Curry!
Dinner aromas fill me apartment.
