Poetess Shakir a Humayun kabeer by Mohammed- Abdurahiman .Konari  & Samad parappanangadi

                                           Young poetess  ,Shakira Humayun Kabeer, is a  product of “Parappanad  Citizens  Forum ,which is a N.G.O , sparsely known beyond the borders of Parappanangadi town  which is the  headquarters of erstwhile  principality known in the same name.Shakira  was leading a quite contended family life with her husband – until  ,Mr.Alihassan un- earthed the poetess in her- well  known   architect  Humayun kabeer and  their three children namely  Saira, Saftar and Noora. Mr.Humayun Kabeer is an exponent of low cost  housing scheme  named   “Habitat”  and he is one of  its  directors .He has constructed more than 2000 thousand houses  throughout Kerala. Besides, he is a good connoisseur of music ,art and  literature.  Both her parents were  devoted school teachers .Her father Mohammed .M. belonged to Alleppy and  mother S.A.Zubaida was a native of kodungallur which was the cradle of Islamic culture and civilization in  the middle ages. One of her elder brother Jabir is a successful business man of electronic s  at U.A.E.  The younger one Shaheen is a soft ware Engineer , employed at Sanfos, California.She is having two sisters , Muneera and  Thahira.

                           Shakira is a multi faceted gem of a house wife. Besides a talented versifier with incredible imagination, she is a much sought after floral designer during Onam festivals. On the surface it seemed a most improbable feat. Few would have imagined that the quite, reserved house wife, Who  was till few months  back  was remarkable for her shyness and dislike of publicity ,possessed the qualities  necessary to produce  such beautiful  rhymes ,  which captivates  the heart  of  young   and  old alike by its quaint and original genius. She has developed a unique and peculiar Hobby in  observing children at play.. She watches children playing, notes their dialogues. She over-hear what they communicate using their limited vocabulary. She opines that a lot can be studied from their    unintelligible, childish words, which may   help linguistic studies. This blessed couple actively engages in social activities in the area.   While Mr.Humayun kabeer leads “Habitat” of the district, Shakira  heads   the   Ladies  wing of” parappanad Citizens Forum “  which  is  an N.G.O   doing many charitable philanthropic  activities.

         P.C.F  (Parappanad Citizens Forum)  while doing  a lot of  activities  in promoting  love, affection, and camaraderie among its members, it also  tries to find  out the hidden  talents among its members and do whatever is possible  to  encourage and develop  them. One fine morning , Mr.Ali Hassan ,its  able  secretary in charge of  literary  activities and  few of its members , while interacting with Shakira couples, smelt her inherent  quality  in writing poems. He  not only insisted on developing her poetical skill but persuaded  her  to write a poem then and there. Shakira, as talented  as she is, scribbled few lines, which sprung in her mind and that is her  first published English poem “Spring”.This poem made her the cynosure of  the  literal horizon of this coastal town of  Malappuram District of kerala,Gods own country.
