I lay awake sometimes at night

Words fly through my head

I get a sudden urge to write

Feelings and thoughts needing to be said

Some are long, some are short

Sometimes happy, sometimes sad

I take my time, give lots of thought

Scribbling away on my trusty pad

I feel very lucky to have this gift

Lots of therapeutic emotions

At a later age it’s given me a lift
