Unrequited love from the past.
The days flow by in constant dusk
Hues of gray to stay the dawn
With each new lie, a different mask
In crowded streets, I stand forlorn
And still I see you everywhere
The ghost in memory lane from yesteryear
Yet when I reach to bring you near
You were never even there
Another lie in the liar’s lair
So why are you still
The song that resounds in Maple Lane
That sweet sibilant soft refrain
So why are you still
An unmoving mirage I could not unsteal
And still they say of time’s healing hands
When memories would fade by dawn’s early light
But still I’d see your face in distant lands
Of eternal dusk, just out of sight
