A list with commentary.

Sylvia Plath is probably the most well known. There has been speculation in recent years that perhaps Plath suffered bi-polar disorder, although that is unconfirmed.

Next is Scottish poet/songwriter Stuart Adamson. Many of his troubles were self induced. He was known to be an alcoholic.

Third on this tragic list is Doors frontman Jim Morrison, who wasted both his talent and his life, succumbing to the demons of alcohol and drugs.

4th, we have welsh poet and drunkard Dylan Thomas, whose works are still considered literary Masterpieces.

While it is my policy that a person ought to be remembered more for their successes than their sins, it still breaks my heart that so many talents passed into eternity so soon when they still had so much they could have given to people in this temporal existence.

It’s sad how the brightest of writers & artists are so troubled! Thanks for posting.

It just goes to show that fame does not make people happy.

Too true Karen. I suspect though that if they had avoided the demons of drugs/alcohol etc they would have been happy.
