Thoughts about the war on terror.
The vote was a silent majority and war continues
with very few Americans having much to say.
A country’s dismay, contracts for oil
bartered with soldiers and steel
A historical blue print for politicians to follow
Their arrogance is our greatest ignorance
leaving the courageous to obey.
The war has reached a decade on the backs of the weary
Fighting has become as meaningless as picking up pennies.
What matters most on this perilous path
Are the men and women protecting forgotten freedom.
Home is distant, a diagnosis
that has bled over from the Vietnam era,
and prescriptions will never make war just a dream
It will be remembered like the images in Abu Ghraib
and forgotten like the atrocities of Walter Reed
Few will remember how a secretary
didn’t have time to sign memos of mourning
This set the precedent for capricious management.
War and its politics makes soldiers expendable
mourned by dead presidents and imperialistic ideals
