The world is expected to double
Its population
This is driven primarily by developing
Countries where most people live

Like North America, Europe
And Australia
There’s another problem
The population is graying
That’s when there’s not enough births
To replace an aging population

These problems are worldwide bringing

With them many social ills
Like food shortages, lack of adequate
Drinking water supply, smog, noise
And rising crime rates

Shanty towns have become eye sores
In countries like India, Kenya, the Philippines
And some industrialized countries

As a result there are problems
with environmental deterioration
Unequal distribution of wealth
Wars, and conflicts over
Our dwindling resources

With an expanding overpopulation
Radical steps have to be taken
To keep abreast
Interplanetary outreach program have
To fall into place
Where there will be the colonization
Of planets like the moon, mars, Venus
And Pluto

Even with such actions
In 900 years
There’s expected to be a population
Of about 350 to 400 billion
When the earth will be two small
To contain us all
