How my best friend makes me feel better.
Whenever I write poetry it usually ends up dark
Because did you know that poetry is a glimpse into your heart?
I write about what rules my mind
life has always been unkind
portraits painted with pastilles of grey
an illustration of what I wanted to say
my words have been as black as they can be
blessings a few, don’t know what to do
all patterned to see in my poetry.
Then there’s you with that torch in the night
a candle flickering with bold little fight
to wash away watercolours that show all my weak
because you are my happy thought above all that is bleak
I go through the day and smile about you
about how we laugh and how much we can do
only a real friend could make me as happy as a feel
fades away the dark like paint that peels
so it reveals this picture that has a golden hue
its far from dull
but colourful and wonderful
and the same colour as you.
