Just a poem about preachers preaching generally about things they know little about.

All these preachers preaching,
with nothing new to say.
Same old nonsense all the time,
said in a differing way.

Irony is lost on some,
hypocrisy is just as bad.
The preachers preaching rubbish,
always makes me mad.

You’re welcome to your opinion,
of that there is no doubt.
Passing lies off as truth though,
just shows you have no clout.

So mister preacher, preaching,
there is nothing new you can teach.
It has all been proven wrong before.
To you, that idea is out of reach.

A preacher must be consistent, consistently and straightly to keep his/her teaching.

One important point: not all preachers know little about their knowledge!

If I knew of one that practices what he preaches, I might give a listen.

Reading this, I assume by preachers, you mean politicians! LOL

Just goes to show that preachers are human, just like us.

I ended up with the preacher
    Full of lies and hate
I seemed to scare him a little
So he showed me to the golden gate. – Pete Townsend

    Nice work, Al.

As one who has stood behind a pulpit a (very) few times, you’re right, there is nothing new to say.

    Interesting poem.

I think it is sad that the only preachers all of you have heard are dull, hypocritical liars. This has certainly not been my experience, and I have been listening to preachers for about 30 years now. You are either going to very dull churches, or you are not listening very well, or is it that you have preconceived notions that preachers are dull, so you have not actually listened to any?

Just to leave no-one in doubt; this poem isn’t about religious preachers.

Very interesting topic for discussion. I assumed this poem was about religious preachers and I would never want to judge anyone claiming that their messages are from God. I would let God take care of them if they aren’t for “real.” So, I am happy to hear that it is not about religious peachers. Nice.

I have to go with Bullwinkle, love The Who and Pete Townshends music, agree wholeheartedly with your analysis of preachers and loved your poem….reads like a story within a bigger story, great poetry man…honest and direct from the heart. Good Stuff here.
