If I had to hide and wait

lie low in the grass and anticipate

cranky and hungry and in a bad mood

just so I could catch and eat food

If to eat I had to chase and kill

instead of waiting for a happy meal

I think that life would be tough

I think that eating broccoli is rough

Oh gosh what would I do

If I wanted to eat something new

If I wanted saucy hot spaghetti

in the big, dusty, dry Serengeti

Who in the world would I tell?

There’s not Pizza hut, McDonald’s ot Taco Bell!

How do animals hunt for food,

to chase and kill seems so rude

Some animals have fangs and fur

they’re what is called a predator.

that means other animals is their treat

they don’t get ice cream or cookies to eat.

Most predators do not eat fruits or leaves or grass

they have good eyes, fangs and claws and can run so fast

What if your an animal that is the one eaten?

if you tried to run fast but was beaten?

The animals that run to get away

sometimes are eaten and called prey

Lions and bears and even some snakes

in grass and trees, in ponds and lakes

wait for prey, hide and chase

and when a predator eats he leaves nothing to waste

Predators like to catch food to eat

they love a good chase ended with fresh meat

so now you know what’s predator and prey

and be glad you don’t have to chase, or run away
