There’s a make-believe house
with pretend little people-
who act out of love
but they know it’s not real.

Fake little flowers
line the fake paper fence,
and it falls apart easy
because it’s all pretend.

In a make believe world
with a make believe you
and a make believe me-
this life isn’t true.

And all you are
and all I am
is a bad beginning
to a bad pretend.

In their make-believe minds
there’s make believe thoughts-
and they’re all made of dough
and they all rott-

just like their make believe food,
from their make believe dinners.
And all of them lie
because they’re all sinners.

But it’s a make believe world
with a make believe you
and a make believe me-
it’s never been true.

And all you are
and all I am
is a bad beginning
to a bad pretend.

A pretending mom
and pretending dad
who pretend their in love
so the kids won’t feel bad.

But the kids pretend
that they don’t know-
and their a make believe family
who will never grow.

Their in a make believe world
with a make believe you
and a make believe me-
I wish it were true.

But with all you are
and all I am-
it’s just a bad beginning
just like their bad pretend.
