Sleep, the prison that holds us immobile during the night and sometimes even during the day. Life goes on elsewhere…

Words carried on a sullen breeze

As twilight tickles all thoughts

She whispers,

But, yet so distant

I hear

All while

I’m captive to sleep

The sun breaks through silence

Five hours to the east

As darkness still enshrouds

The present

Of my being

As while

I’m yet captive to sleep

Life emerges, rages activity

Upon the other side of the earth

As my eyes

Remain closed

Still being held

Captive to sleep

To rise, to become

To fill my new day with…me

My dream for now

As yet

I remain captive to my sleep

I have the opposite problem. Many times I can’t sleep. Good piece.
