I wanted to write a poem using alliteration. But I kept on procrastinating, which led to possibly the greatest ideas of my writing career:
Write a poem about procrastination (genius, huh. I bet it’s never been done before).
It sits
On my desk
A technological treat
Like the last donut in a box
The flavorful, fantastic, finger-licking internet is a click away,
But
I have a paper, a test, a worksheet
But
I can already taste the sugary sweet stimulation, the melt-in-my mouth multitude of material
The oratory orgy of online television (hello, Hulu)
I will work extra hard tonight! (I promise!)
Just let me gaze at this glazed glory of an online game
Just let me sniff this salvia-inducing news site
Just let me lick the artificial icing (Facebook-flavored)
And I promise that I will promise
To work really, really, hard on the story I’m writing. I really mean it. Really
…Just like I promised to go for a run…
After I ate the delicious distracting delightful donut
(Which was the last)
In the box
