Sometimes we all get caught up in our lives, striving for things that aren't really even that important and (especially if there are kids or other family members) taking care of other people. It's not a good excuse, but it happens.

Part of the promise of commitment is communicating when things are slipping before they get too far out of hand that the other person is so detached that they aren't concerned with doing the things they used to do. If after you let her know what you'd like from her, and she still doesn't show respect for you and your relationship, then decisions have to be made. But it's not safe to assume that anyone knows your frame of mind, or what you want them to do differently.
