Proteins in the diet.

One of the definitions of such concepts as life reads as follows: life – a form of existence of albuminous bodies. Hence, it becomes clear that the protein is an essential component of the diet. Proteins consist of amino acids. Amino acids, in turn, are divided into interchangeable (about 80%) and essential (20%). Interchangeable can be synthesized in the body. Essential not synthesized and therefore must be present in food. Protein is the basic plastic material from which the built fabric of our body. For example, in the skeletal muscle, there are about 20% protein. From proteins built many enzymes that catalyze (accelerate) a variety of reactions that provide the necessary direction and intensity of metabolism. As a member of hormones, proteins involved in regulation of physiological processes. Proteins cause the muscles of their contractile function. As an integral part of the hemoglobin protein is involved in transporting oxygen. Blood protein – fibrinogen is necessary for blood clotting. Complex proteins – nucleoproteins play an important role in the transmission of hereditary characteristics of an organism. And finally, the protein supply may be used by the body as an energy source. 1 gram of protein contains 4.1 kilocalories (kcal).
