It was a beautiful clear day of autumn. The woods were quiet and leaves were tumbling down in scarlet and orange beds. It reminds me of all the lovely autumns I have seen. Each autumn seems more lovely than before.

The close of summer days are truly here
Proud autumn comes with cold and haughty air
Evening light casts shadows long and low
Along the trail where winter winds will blow
Squirrels toil to gather nuts for winters need
Leaves fall from trees in swirls of harmony
Fish seek the depth of streams for darkened holes
Deer find shelter in the mountain coves
Maple leaves are jewels in autumns light
Orange and reds shine brilliantly and bright
Fair oaks stand tall in golden majesty
Berried dogwoods hunker down beneath
There is perfection in the seasons all
and I have lived through more than I recall
If I should live to see one hundred more
Each one would be more lovely than before
