It’s frustrating when you find the person you think is perfect for you (and you for them) and they obviously don’t feel the same. Especially when their new relationship fails and they come running back to you for consolation (and reconciliation).
What is it that you’re seeking?
Perfection is a myth
Perpetuated by the media
You’re convinced it exists somewhere
Wrapped in a small shiny package
When opened, there is nothing inside
I was all you needed
But you wanted something more
How many times does this have to play out
Before you recognize the truth?
What you are seeking cannot be found
And I will not always be available
To deflect the blows to your heart
Or soothe the inevitable wounds
A deaf ear turned to your complaints
Even sympathy has its limits
And you have certainly been lacking
When it comes to hurting me
