Qabil is an arabic/ Somali word meaning tribe. This clan system still dominates a lot of african countries and has often been the cause of war and genocide in many parts of the world.
I’m tired of every Somali,
whose life is qabil centred totally.
Is it coz of blind hatred or just plain jealousy,
or maybe too much time spent idly.
And to all those that say it doesn’t matter,
to know your qabil and so be proud of,
your origin, your heritage, your father’s father,
thinking in vain that this might drown most of,
the hatred caused by the clan obsessed machos,
but instead adding fuel to the fire and hate filled riots.
Clans and tribes are a part of life everywhere.
From Asia, Africa and even Latin America’s gotta share.
Many a time wars have sparked then were doused again.
And instead of pointing fingers or falling into despair,
unlike us, those people, from their mistakes did learn.
Like Roses be they white, red, pink or even grey,
they’re equally beautiful in spite of the different shades.
We are all God’s creation, our tribes don’t set our fate,
nor does it dictate our future or wipe out our mistakes.
It merely is a reminder of where we came from, our heritage.
However it’s up to us as individuals not to let us disgrace,
our future as a country, a peaceful nation, a sovereign state.
Remember that though your past has been carved by your clan,
its You as a person that controls your future and can execute your plans.
A piece of advice may I finally add,
Don’t judge a person by his Clan but by what he Can…..
Peace
