In Imitation of "Random Autobiography" by Mary Ann Larson.

Gasping for air,

luckily I was saved,

when I was cut out into

the world to start my

life.

At age two,

my sister came

into my life.

I have lost pets and a

family member too.

Once I dressed

as a clown

for Halloween and won

a costume contest,

I have forned

friendships but

unfortunately lost some

too, though they will

never be forgotten.

I’ve jumped off

waterfalls, cliffs,

and rope swings,

swan past

the waves in the ocean,

and hiked up mountains.

One time I found

a gold braclet

that no one claimed,

Once, I shot the basket

that took us

into overtime.

I’ve cantered bareback

on the beach.

I have made

necklaces from

Job’s tears, Puka shells,

and Ni’ihau shells.

I’ve been burned

by a marshmallow

while roasting

marshmallows,

face planted

while snowboarding,

and flipped over

while inner tubing.

I have seen

some of my favorite

bands perform live.

I’ve been to

theme parks

like Disneyland,

Hurricane Harbor,

and Knott’s.

I have performed dances

on stage in front of

lots of people.

I’ve jumped off a tree

and got stung by a bee.

I have lied dowon

under the night sky

to watch

the sparkling stars.

I have grown to

not like milk and

can’t remember

the last time

I drank it.

I’ve learned that

boogie boarding

on the grass

in the rain

doesn’t really work.

I’ve taught

my sister how

to ride a bike.

I’ve been on

long flights and

long car drives and

always end up in

really fun places.

I’ve stayed in

my pajamas

all day

and without leaving

the house.

I have pulled

an all-nighter

and not been able

to stay awake

the next day. I’ve lived in

at least thirteen

different houses.

I have grown a fear

of doctors.

Once I hid

in the bushes when

I had to go see them.

I’ve gathered flowers

to make a centerpiece.

I have made

lemonade from the

freshly grown lemons

in our backyard.

I have gotten the yellow

happy face sticker

they hand out

at Wal-Mart.

I’ve been to Starbucks at

five in the morning.

I have only begun

to paint my canvas

on which my life lies.

I really like this prosaic style. It reads like a diary.
