A poem of when you feel like you’re just right for a person, and you’re ready to be with them.

You’re getting so attached

and yet you warn me that this is unstable.

I’m trying to hold back

and yet every nerve of my body is screaming in protest.

My muscles want to curve around you

My heart wants to be pressed against yours

My lungs want to breathe in your smell

And all I can do is pretend I don’t care

To be neutral and distant

As if you don’t mean to me as much as you do

I’m ready to give myself up to you

I’m ready be the one you’ve been looking for

I’m ready to fall in love with you

Please tell me that you are too

I know what it’s like to want to fall in love, but you can’t help but be a little distant.

It’s just hard, because you don’t want to get hurt again…
